Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell speaks about one of many issues relating to Martins Creek Quarry expansion plans

Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell speaks to one of many issues involving Martins Creek Quarry on the floor of NSW Parliament

October 20, 2022

Upper Hunter MP and Dungog Shire local resident Dave Layzell has made a private members statement in the NSW Parliament on the 19th of October, you can listen to the full speech in the video above.

Dave states “I must object to the idea that trucks will be running through the small town of Paterson. This picture perfect country town has a 90-degree road bend at the junction of King Street and Gresford Road. That corner cannot safely manage a large number of turning trucks. It is simply unsuitable. Any logical person would see that the corner in question cannot be used for the proposed number of trucks.”

What is MCQAG?

  • For government recognition that MCQ expansion plan is a totally un-acceptable and incompatible land use development

  • That any MCQ expansion approval must limit extraction by road to the existing approved limit of 0.15MMtpa

  • That operating hours of the quarry be limited to 5 day per week operations 7am to 5pm

  • That Impact Assessments consider and address combined cumulative impact of both Martins Creek and Brandy Hill Quarries
